Location: The City of Sacramento is located in the center of the State of California, where the Sacramento and the American rives come together, in the area known as California´s central Valley.  It is the fourth largest urban area in the State and the seventh most populated.

History: The Sacramento Valley was first inhabited by Nisenan (Southern Maidu) and Plains Miwok Indians. 
The first spaniard in the area, Gabriel Moraga, named the first spanish settlement Sacramento in the early 1800s. 
The settlement remained an agricultural frui producing enter until gold was discovered in 1848 and the gold-rush colonization began. The city flooded twice during the 1800s, the first time in 1850 and the second in 1861, when it was decided that the Sacramento river should not be a menace to the city and thus, the whole urban area was landfilled to its current level 15 feet above between 1862 and 1869.
On 1874 California´s State Capitol was completely built and ready to receive its future governors. From 1880 to 1899, development was accelerated by the installment of public services like telephone and gas and electric companies, and Sacramento enjoyed a speedy improvement of living conditions and thus population growth.
By the early 1900s, (1910) the Southern Pacific Railroad provided 33% of all jobs in Sacramento, and in 1924 nothern Sacramento was incorporated. Ronald Raegan was the last Governor of California to reside in Sacramento in 1967.
